In 1.16 nether fortresses are rarer and are more likely to be completelly buried under netherrack (in Java edition) it would be better if there was a way to find them while making it more encouraging to explore the nether instead of wondering around or walking on a
Leading you to a random fortress near by
certain paths like pre 1.16 nether
For example by finding a rare compass (in ruined portals) connected to a load stone hidden in a nearby nether fortress under the lava well. maybe in a room full of wither skeleton and soulsand to
make obtaining the lode stone harder
or using a special compass with a red enchantment glow that point to the nearest fortress but with a duration (it only point the direction of the fortress when you use it)
Both of these connect nether fortresses to ruined portals but there are others who prefer a nether map that you can barter from the piglins to find the fortress. since they don't like you being around of course it make sense for them to send you to there enemies the wither skeletons similar to how villager's give you maps to woodland mansions but in the nether
